Sydney Pargeter was a councillor of the Shire of Berwick from 1965 to 1973. He was also one of the first councillors of the City of Berwick from 1973 to 1992 and Mayor in 1982-83.

Mt Talbert was the site of a large early settler station . Pargeter have lived and worked for Victoria, from settlement to the modern day. I am his niece. I have one of the early settler stations , recent event have shown us the hardship endured by the early settlers/ I was able to chat to Sydney at a family gathering many years ago. We talked about the horses and the taming of the Aus landscape. Council have been part of our life for generations. Hamilton council governs Balmoral, Covid has places may changes to the way business is conducted.
