The largest Council-managed reserve in the Cardinia Shire, the RJ Chambers Flora and Fauna Reserve is home to 88 bird and 336 indigenous plant species. Selectively logged in the early 1900s and 1960s, the 121 hectare site was bought by the former Shire of Pakenham in 1972.  The Shire engineer at that time was Ron Chambers, who proposed that the bushland be preserved for public enjoyment.
