J Reg Henty Memorial

James Reginald Henty was the son of Thomas and Charlotte Henty (nee Carter). James inherited the property on his father’s death and remained there until he, himself died. A Berwick Shire Councillor and Shire President in 1913 to 1914. This boulder marks the place where J Reg Henty’s ashes were scattered after his death.

  1. Interesting plaque
    I remember reading it decades ago and thinking how unusual the transcription was
    ‘He was born, OWNED and died on this property’
    Clearing it means he owned the property but the way it is worded sounds like Mr Henty was ‘owned’

    • That was meant to say ‘clearly’ and it auto corrected somehow to ‘clearing’
      I am extremely interested in Pakenham history as I can claim 8 generations of my family having lived in Pakenham area.
