Ivens Reserve was named in memory of Edward and May Ivens who farmed the property where the reserve is now in the 1930s. Edward was born in Baddaguinie, Victoria in 1891. He was twenty-four years old when he enlisted for service in the Great War. He served with the 24th Howitzer Brigade as a gunner and was wounded in action in August 1918. After convalescing in England he returned to Australia on 28 March 1919.
Edward married May Victoria Hill in 1921 and the couple eventually settled on a Soldier Settler block in Narre Warren North. Edward and May are also remembered at the Soldier Settler Memorial Garden in Narre Warren North.
