Joseph Arthur (Arthur) and Isobella Holgate lived here after their marriage in 1927. Their many interests included the arts, antiques and horiticulture. They won many awards at the Royal Melbourne Show for their floral exhibits. They grew wild daffoldils and maiden hair ferns among the trees and flowers. Arthur cultivated a rare pink trumpeted daffoldil which he named after his wife.
