Why was this place named after Eddie Barron? Who is Eddie Barron?

According to the book Place names of Berwick (City of Berwick Historical Pamphlet 3) Eddie Barron was a City of Berwick Councillor between 1981 to 1987 and Mayor of the City of Berwick 1986-87.
