On 15 December 1994 the City of Berwick, the City of Cranbourne and a small section of the City of Knox merged to form the City of Casey which is named after Lord Richard Gavin Gardiner Casey, Australia’s longest-serving Foreign Minister and 16th Governor General. Lord and Lady Casey lived at Edrington in Berwick.
