Berwick War Memorial

In 1919 a group of prominent community figures formed a committee to arrange for the construction of a War Memorial in Berwick. It was to be dedicated to those soldiers who had lost their lives in the service of their country during the Great War and who had some connection with Berwick. The location selected for the monument was the most prominent and suitable site available on the main road at the entrance to the township.

In 1995 a bronze plaque was added to the western face of the memorial to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the end of World War 2.

The set of quartz tablets commemorating the ten various conflicts in which Australian armed forces have been involved was placed around the edge of the raised area in 2007 and in 2009 the City of Casey undertook landscaping and beautification works in the memorial area.
