Harold Edgar (Daly) Ridgway was born in Lang Lang in 1896 to parents William and Isobel Ridgway. He came to Bayles from Lang Lang in 1925 to work for EW Misson, a butcher, delivering orders throughout the district in a horse and cart. 
He opened a store at Bayles in 1944 and was involved in many local organisations, the Bayles Fire Brigade, Tennis Club, School Committee, Recreation Reserve and the Progress Association.
He was elected Secretary of the Bayles Hall Committee in 1932, and remained in the job for thirty-four years. He died at Bayles in November 1966 at the age of 69 years.
