Ackland Park takes its name from the family of Henry (Harry) and Grace Ackland who ran a dairy farm on the land on and around the present park.
The Ackland family were prominent members of the community for decades and Harry was involved in the setting up of cricket clubs in the area and also played football for Berwick. His son-in-law was former Richmond footballer Peter Morris.
Harry was the Captain of Kalora Park Cricket Club and their best batsman for many years.
The land was sold to the Seebeck Family around the late 1970s to early 1980s and was still used for cattle grazing until 2003 when plans for the redevelopment of the area were approved by the council.
The name was proposed in a letter to the City of Casey from the Narre Warren North Community Association on 19 February 2009 and approved by Council on 5 April 2011.
A plaque on a small concrete plinth commemorates the Anzac Landings 100th anniversary.
